  • Diddy faces up to 20 years in prison

Diddy, the disgraced hip-hop mogul, who early last month was found guilty on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution, is likely to remain in a federal prison until his October sentencing despite asking President Donald Trump for release.

Attorneys for Diddy, aka Sean Combs, confirmed this week that the Bad Boy Records music tycoon had reached out to the president in seeking a pardon.

We’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a parson,” attorney Nicole Westmoreland told CNN.

On July 2, Combs was found guilty of two counts of prostitution transportation but acquitted of more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Despite a plea for release, Judge Arun Subramanian in New York’s Southern District Court ordered the 55-year-old to remain in custody until his October 2 sentencing.

Diddy is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison. His defense team has asked the court for a little more than two years, which, with time served, would lead to his release in 2026.

Diddy’s Pardon Odds

No legal sportsbook has been approved to take bets on novelty matters, such is the Diddy outcome. But prediction markets, which bill themselves as derivatives markets, can and do.

Kalshi, one such exchange, has a contract asking, “Who will President Trump pardon this year?” Bettors on the peer-to-peer wagering exchange give Diddy just a 13% chance of receiving clemency.

Former Republican Congressman George Santos (R-New York) and Jeffrey Epstein cohort Ghislaine Maxwell have better implied odds at 17% and 18%, respectively. Other notables include FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried at 6%, former Congressman Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) at 6%, and Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes at 3%.

Following the Diddy verdict last month, and asked about the outcome, Trump said, “Well, he was essentially, I guess, sort of half innocent.”

Trump added that Diddy wasn’t exactly a supporter of his presidential runs.

I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great, and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile,” Trump said this week during an interview with Newsmax.

“He made some terrible statements,” Trump added. When pressed about whether a pardon for Diddy would be a “no,” the president answered, “I would say so.”

Diddy’s Politics

Diddy has been a prolific supporter of Democrats throughout his life. He founded Citizen Change, a political service group, in 2004. The organization’s mission is to get young people and minorities to vote.

In 2020, Diddy launched the Our Black Party, with the goal of unifying Blacks around then-candidate Joe Biden.

The number one priority is to get Trump out of office,” Diddy tweeted ahead of the 2020 election. “The people that have the most responsibility and should be scared to death of this man are white people. We are on the verge of a race war.”

“As Black people, we aren’t even a topic of real discussion. We can no longer stand for doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. That’s insanity! It’s time we unify,” Diddy continued.
