An outdoor gym along the Atlantic City Boardwalk is the casino town’s newest attraction.

Set to open next week, Fusion Gyms Atlantic City location will provide locals and visitors with a state-of-the-art workout facility with premium amenities and ocean views. The outdoor facility is located between the Showboat Hotel and Ocean Casino Resort on the Boardwalk’s northern end.
Memberships for the gym located at 801 Boardwalk start at $99 a month, with discounted rates of $79 a month for first responders and students under the age of 26 with a valid ID.
Fusion Gyms founder Tony Chowdhury told the Press of Atlantic City that the goal is to bring a new world-class amenity to Atlantic City. The casino capital of the East Coast continues to diversify to appeal to a broader demographic.
We wanted to open a fitness resort, building it around family, fun, and fitness,” Chowdhury said. “With the Showboat, we already have the waterpark, the go-karts, the arcade. This is going to add a fitness component.”
Atlantic City will mark the fifth Fusion Gyms location. The Philadelphia-based company has two facilities in Philadelphia, along with gyms in Fairless Hills and Warminster, Penn.
Casino Turned Gym
Fusion Gyms Atlantic City features weights and exercise equipment. The facility additionally includes basketball and pickleball courts surrounded by installed palm trees and an outdoor cabana serving up cold drinks, including alcohol, and food. There’s also an abundance of outdoor lounge chairs and couches.
The gym is situated on what were formerly beach volleyball courts, acres that Showboat owner Bart Blatstein was rumored to have considered for a casino facility. After acquiring the resort in early 2016 for $23 million, the Philly real estate tycoon reportedly considered a workaround of the property’s deed restriction placed on it by former owner Caesars Entertainment that prevented the Mardi Gras-themed hotel from housing slot machines and table games.
Blatstein subdivided the Showboat property into new lots of record, which could have provided him with a path to open a casino on the sandy acreage. Ultimately, he opted to fold on the reported casino plan in favor of focusing on making the Showboat Atlantic City’s go-to family-friendly destination.
Showboat invested in the $100 million Island Waterpark and transformed the former casino floor into the Lucky Snake, which the property bills as “the largest arcade in the world.”
Atlantic City Resurgence
The first half of 2025 was positive for a few Atlantic City casinos. The nine casinos down the shore won almost $1.38 billion on their physical slot machines and table games, which is 1.7% richer — a net gain of $23.6 million — than the same six months in 2024.
However, only four casinos saw in-person gaming revenue climb. Borgata gross gaming revenue (GGR) from retail play ascended 7% to $351.9 million, Hard Rock was up 1% to $263.7 million, Ocean surged 10% to $218.7 million, and Harrah’s was up 2% to $109.9 million.
