Prowl Cocktail Bar to Debut in the Arts Disrict
A new lounge, Prowl Cocktail Bar, is coming to the bustling Arts District in downtown Las Vegas.
The new bar will feature the talents of a beloved Las Vegas bartender, Chris Gutierrez. He’s slung drinks at haunts like Gold Spike (up for sale again), Oak & Ivy, Corduroy and Atomic Liquors, a Las Vegas institution.
Do we typically write about local bars? No. Did Prowl give us exclusive information about the place? Yes. ‘Nuff said.

Prowl comes from the same folks behind Stray Pirate, another new lounge in the neighborhood, quickly becoming a hotspot for bar-hopping along the lines of the Fremont East District.
The physical address of Prowl is 1323 S. Commerce Street, Las Vegas, Nevada 89102. From what we can tell, it’s the former Vinyl Guy space, whatever that might have been.

Details about the bar are light, but of course we’re going to share the description they provided because we need to fluff this story up a bit.
From Prowl, “Tucked somewhere between modern day and the wild, Prowl is a bar inspired by the quiet thrill of the jungle—mysterious, unpredictable and full of life for the curious and brave. It’s a place where atmosphere matters and blurs the line between nature and the concrete jungle of downtown Las Vegas.”
We are not a jungle enthusiast, mainly due to the quicksand scam. What is the quicksand scam? Well, quicksand has always portrayed itself as dangerous, but come to find out, it’s just sand and water and humans are more buoyant than quicksand. If you just stand there and don’t panic you’ll be fine. Just slowly extract yourself. What in the hell are you doing in an actual jungle, anyway? You could encounter a candiru, or toothpick fish. That’s the one that swims up your urine steam into your urethra, anchoring itself with sharp, backward-facing spines.

The interior of Prowl will be jungle-themed, with a lava rock wall and a large panther that watches over the bar.
We’re told there will be “two independently-styled” restrooms. “One to represent day and meant to feel like you’re under a swarm of butterflies and the other has a glowing firefly-inspired art installation.”
No, nerd, not the rebels who fight against the military-controlled FEDRA, aiming to restore pre-pandemic governance, in “The Last of Us.”
And not this firefly, either!

Prowl’s cocktails? “The drinks are the center of gravity. Each cocktail is crafted with purpose—thoughtfully developed, precisely executed and designed to surprise. Service follows that same rhythm: warm, attentive and never in the way. Every interaction is meant to gracefully enhance the experience without interruption.”
In a word, hooch.
Chris Gutierrez is an award-winning bartender, originally from South Lake Tahoe, California. Most recently, Gutierrez served as the General Manager of Stray Pirate Tropical Cocktails and Effects, a dog and tiki-inspired bar in the Arts District that opened in October 2023.
The underrated What Now Las Vegas (think Eater before the regime change) was the first to share word of this new bar, which we deeply resent, but we’re trying to move past it.
We’ve yet to try Stray Pirate, but it’s on our to-do list, along with Prowl when it opens in June 2025.
