Fontainebleau, Cosmo Offer Movies to Draw Guests (Question Mark)

When we used to visit Las Vegas as a tourist, it never would’ve entered our mind to spend precious gambling and drinking time watching movies.

Apparently, though, two Strip hotels think movies are a draw, so they’re playing movies poolside to attract guests. Fontainebleau’s movies are free if you join the casino’s loyalty club, Cosmo’s are $15, free if you’re a Gold tier member of MGM Rewards or better.

We don’t get it, but we don’t have to get something to share it. We share sports scoop all the time. Different strokes, as they used to say in the 1980s. What we talkin’ ’bout, Willis? Read on.

For our fellow youths, “What you talkin’ ’bout, Willis?” is from a TV show, “Diff’rent Strokes.” It means, “Skibidi what the rizzmaxxification are you on, Willis?”

First, Fontainebleau’s Oasis Cinema Club.

Fontainebleau’s movies are projected onto a poolside screen and a special menu is available.

As mentioned, the movies are free for those in the Fontainebleau Rewards program (free to join) as well as hotel guests. Everyone else pays $10.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. on movie nights, with movies starting at 8:00 p.m. We trust the movies shown on a casino’s poolside screen don’t have 45 minutes of ads and previews, so maybe get there on time.

An oasis is a fertile spot in the desert. Unrelated: Las Vegas is home to about 100,000 Mormons.

Fontainebleau’s movie series runs from May to September, 2025. Here’s the schedule.

“Coco” on May 2; “Barbie” on May 9; “Thor: Love & Thunder” on May 16; “Finding Nemo” on May 23; “Top Gun” on May 25; “Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl” on May 29; “Luca” on June 1; “Uncharted” on June 5; “Moana” on June 8; “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” on June 12; “Onward” on June 15; “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” on June 19; “Inside Out 2” on June 22; “Toy Story” on June 26; “Elemental” on June 29; “Finding Dory” on July 3; “Top Gun: Maverick” on July 4; “Baywatch” on July 6; “The Little Mermaid (2023)” on July 10; “The Meg” on July 13; “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” on July 17; “The Secret Life of Pets 2” on July 20; “Moana 2” on July 24; “Despicable Me 4” on July 27; “Lilo & Stitch” on July 31; “Avengers: Endgame” on August 3; “The Incredibles” on August 8; “Shang Chi & the Legend of the Ten Rings” on August 15; “Captain America: Brave New World” on August 22; “Frozen” on August 29; and “Batman & Robin” on September 5.

The days of the week vary, but it’s mostly Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Million-dollar idea: Waterproof Peanut M&M’s and Sno-Caps.

Next up, Cosmo’s Dive In Movies.

Again, the movies are presented poolside at the hotel’s Boulevard Pool.

Like we said, $15 for non-hotel guests, $10 for locals. Free for MGM Rewards Gold members and hotel guests, also free for military members and first responders, which is a nice touch.

Here’s the schedule for the movies at Cosmo for 2025.

“Shrek” on May 19; “Captain America: The First Avenger” on May 26; “Kung Fu Panda 4” on June 2; “Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone” on June 9; “Wicked” on June 16; “The Goonies” on June 23; “Top Gun” on June 30; “Top Gun: Maverick” on July 4; “Despicable Me” on July 7; “Inside Out 2” on July 14; “Happy Gilmore” on July 21; “Elf” on July 25; “Godzilla x Kong—The New Empire” on July 28; “Lilo & Stitch” on August 4; “Twilight” on August 11; “Mean Girls” on August 18; “Legally Blonde” on August 25; “Good Burger” on September 1.

If you actually took the time to read those schedules, you’d have noticed there’s some duplication between movie series. Both hotels are showing “Inside Out 2,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Top Gun” and “Top Gun: Maverick.”

We used to be a movie theater person, but rarely see movies in venues where other people are now. People have turned into rude morons, honestly. Literally every movie we’ve seen in recent years had people on their phones during the movie and literally every movie is ruined by idiots talking to each other like they’re in their living room.

We trust these poolside viewings will be even more plagued by people talking to each other, so set your expectations and rage reflex accordingly.

A number of these movies are for kids, which makes the whole thing feel even more awkward and desperate.

Anyway, any activity is better than having to listen to Zowie Bowie on Fremont Street, so now you have the schedules should you find yourself with nothing else to do in a town with approximately two trillion better things to do.

Update (5/9/2025): M Resort is diving into the poolside movie game, including a new 800-square-foot LED screen. Admission is $10 per person, doors open at 7 p.m., films start at 7:30 p.m.
