Caesars Sportsbook to Operate Westgate SuperBook
Caesars Entertainment and Westgate resort have announced a new partnership where Caesars Sportsbook will operate Westgate SuperBook and it feels like the sportsball betting version of “Inception.”
Sportsbooks are not in our wheelhouse, but this story has a quirky twist, so we’re taking a stab at it.
It’s a growing trend for casinos to invite in “competitors” to operate their sportsbooks, because honestly, operating your own is a pain in the ass. Yes, that’s the technical term.

Here’s what Caesars and Westgate say about the new partnership: “The partnership brings together the SuperBook’s storied legacy and expansive footprint with Caesars Sportsbook’s platform and market-leading sports betting menu, creating a next-generation sports wagering experience. Widely recognized as one of the largest and best sportsbook viewing experiences in the world, the Westgate SuperBook has long set the standard in Las Vegas for scale, atmosphere, and immersive sports viewing.”
They aren’t exaggerating about the “scale” thing. Circa claims to have the biggest sportsbook in the world, but we’re pretty sure the Westgate SuperBook would disagree.
The name of the Westgate SuperBook won’t change. The new arrangement will be “Westgate SuperBook, powered by Caesars Sportsbook.”
Caesars Sportsbook will take the reins of Westgate’s sportsbook “prior to football season.” Yes, we had to look it up, but preseason is in August, the regular season starts in September.
There were more words in the announcement: “As part of the enhanced experience, sports fans will enjoy Same Game Parlays, expanded parlay offerings, and live in‑play wagering across a wide range of professional and collegiate sports, both in-person and on the Caesars Sportsbook app. Additionally, Caesars Sportsbook will introduce self‑service betting kiosks inside the SuperBook and throughout the resort, providing faster, round-the-clock access to wagering. Guests will be able to complete in‑person registration for the Caesars Sportsbook app while on property and also seamlessly use their account and manage funds seamlessly across the platform’s Universal Digital Wallet in participating markets for convenient deposits and withdrawals.”
While sportsbooks don’t add much to a casino’s bottom line, they are a popular amenity because guests demand a place to mansplain.

So, why is Westgate turning over control of its sportsbook to Caesars Entertainment?
It’s always about the money! Why do we even bother asking rhetorical questions?
Caesars brings to the table a national database of gamblers, with millions of existing users across multiple states. They are experts at cross-marketing and leveraging loyalty programs. They have made a massive (some would say foolish) investment in technology and driving people to their platform. Westgate will benefit from all of these things.
Scale. Stability. Growth potential.
It’s why Caesars Sportsbook operates the sportsbook at The Resort at Summerlin and Downtown Grand. It’s why Circa Sports operates the sportsbooks at Tuscany and Silverton.
With a standalone sportsbook, a casino and its ownership bear all the risk. With a bigtime sportsbook operator, there’s less exposure to sharp bettors, a more stable hold and the ability to take bigger bets without fear of getting crushed.
With massive betting volumes, betting lines are more efficient and players get better deals.
Westgate can focus on its core business: Annoying people by trying to sell them timeshares.
It’s worth noting the Westgate Las Vegas SuperContest franchise, whatever that might be, will remain.
We can’t say this announcement has been met with glee among sports wagering fans. Our Twitter followers have expressed sentiments along the lines of, “This blows.” We are not paraphrasing.
Change is hard.
If you’re in any way upset by this announcement, please remember, it’s sports. It’s easier to watch greatness than to pursue it, yucking everyone’s yumwise.
