Caesars Ent. CEO Tom Reeg to Oversee Tilman Fertitta’s Business Empire

As the sale of Caesars Entertainment proceeds, we’ve confirmed an intriguing twist: Caesars CEO Tom Reeg is expected to oversee Tilman Fertitta’s sprawling business empire.

That empire includes Caesars Entertainment, Fertitta Entertainment, Landry’s (60 restaurant brands), Golden Nugget casinos and more.

That’s a metric hell-ton of restaurants, hotels, resorts, casinos and real estate. Tom Reeg needs to ask for a serious raise. He’ll do pretty well coming out of the Caesars acquisition, but still.

No CEOs were harmed in the creation of this AI-generated likeness of Tom Reeg.

The expanded role would put Reeg in charge of a vast and diverse collection of businesses, well beyond the casino industry where he’s made his name.

Reeg became CEO of Caesars Entertainment on July 20, 2020, when Eldorado Resorts completed its acquisition of Caesars Entertainment and adopted the Caesars name. He previously became CEO of Eldorado Resorts on Jan. 1, 2019.

There are a lot of restaurants at Caesars Entertainment resorts, but the Landry’s thing is a whole new ball of Bubba Gump.

Among the restaurant brands under the Landry’s umbrella are Morton’s Steakhouse, Mastro’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Rainforest Cafe, Saltgrass Steak House and Chart House.

It’s a lot.

The one carve-out in Reeg’s duties will be the Houston Rockets, some sort of sportsball team. There are only so many hats one person can wear.

Fertitta’s acquisition of Caesars Entertainment was announced in May 2026, with a price tag of about $17.6 billion.

The sale is expected to close by mid-2027. We hear there are already employee and VIP guest celebrations being planned.

The original announcement said Reeg would continue leading Caesars, but we thought that was just a “smooth transition” thing. You know, quiet firing, as happens so often in the casino business. You keep the existing leadership on in a consultant capacity for a time, then don’t let the door hit you.

This new scoop is a glaring reminder we don’t know everything, and your insolence is duly noted.

Tom Reeg’s position post-sale won’t just be symbolic; his role will be significantly expanded.

This twist is quite a vote of confidence in Tom Reeg from Tilman Fertitta.

Fertitta has his hands full, so he sort of needs a trusted right-hand man. Sorry, right-hand person. Tom Reeg just happens to be a man. Moving on. In addition to Fertitta helming his vast web of business ventures, he’s currently serving as U.S. ambassador to Italy and San Marino, whatever that might be.

We just forced you to learn something. You will thank us later.

We recommend you not go down the San Marino rabbit hole. If you’re American, it’s actually against the law to learn anything about geography.

Just gaze upon this postcard and you’ll know enough to mansplain about this subject on Twitter.

There’s a decent chance we will never be allowed into Vic & Anthony’s again.

For Reeg, it’s an impressive evolution from running a casino company to overseeing an empire that encompasses everything from high-end steakhouses to aquariums.

Yes, aquariums.

Today we learned Fertitta owns two public aquariums, in Houston and Denver, along with two aquarium-themed restaurants, in Nashville and Kemah, Texas. The public aquariums are entertainment complexes combining marine life, themed restaurants, bars, amusement rides and event venues. We had no idea.

Yet another reminder we don’t know everything. Although, technically, those were not previously Vegas-related. We’d like a booth review before surrendering our omniscience card.
