Amici Pizzeria Opens at Resorts World, Contender for Best Slice on The Strip

Resorts World has wasted no time replacing Mulberry Street Pizzeria, unveiling its new in-house pizza joint, Amici New York Pizzeria.

Amici is now open in The District (near Wally’s, Zouk and RedTail), about as far east as you can go in the resort before you’re in the middle of Las Vegas Blvd.

We told you in August Mulberry Street was closing after a five-year run at Resorts World, and that Amici would take its place. Mulberry served its final slices Sept. 14, 2026. Amici opened days later. We’re relieved to report it’s really good.

The rebrand of Mulberry to Amici was seamless, and changes to the decor are trivial. The movie memorabilia is gone, along with the mildly offensive Mike Tyson statue. Good riddance.

When we mention breaking stories, it’s not bragging. It’s contextualizing. We share news before it’s announced because 1) we have great sources and 2) we love sharing how the sausage is made, especially when that sausage ends up on pizza.

Early word is the pizza place replacing Mulberry St. at Resorts World will be called Amici. It would be great to get some decent pizza on The Strip.

Unlike Mulberry Street, an established L.A. brand founded by Richie Palmer, Amici is a Resorts World creation.

They even came up with a snappy tagline for the backs of employee T-shirts: “In crust we trust.”

Resorts World Senior Vice President of Operations Josef Wagner recently said the resort is “definitely focused on pulling more concepts in-house.”

Translation: Resorts World is shoring up its bottom line. Some have suggested it’s for a potential sale. Unconfirmed.

We judge slices by the “crust-first, then everything else” method. This one ranks high.

Amici is overseen by Executive Chef Ricky McCormick. We bumped into the chef during our visit to Amici, and he has some serious bona fides.

McCormick previously worked at the acclaimed Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace, along with The NoMad and Michelin-starred The Musket Room, both in New York City. He was also chef de cuisine of Jeremy Ford’s Stubborn Seed at Resorts World.

In other words, this isn’t some know-nothing they handed a pizza peel to because Resorts World showed Mulberry Street the door.

Amici serves two styles of pizza: the thinner New York-style pies (see photo above) and thick, crispy-edged Detroit-style pizzas. That crispy edge is also known as “frico.”

No, it’s not burned, you rube! This is known as “cup-and-char pepperoni.” Also known as “cupped pepperoni,” “crispy cupped pepperoni,” “roni cups” or “old-world pepperoni.”

The dough is made in-house and fermented for 48 hours.

McCormick says the Cheeseburger Detroit-Style Pizza has done particularly well. It features ground beef, bacon, cheddar, caramelized onion, pickles and tomato, topped with shredded iceberg lettuce and a secret sauce.

Yes, lettuce on pizza. We have contacted the appropriate authorities.

There’s also a Buffalo Chicken Detroit-style pizza with mozzarella, ranch and green onions.

For traditionalists, the 22-inch New York-style menu includes pepperoni with tomato sauce, mozzarella, cup-and-char pepperoni and Pecorino Romano.

We judge all pizza joints on their basic cheese slice and ours was memorable. It’s not the highest bar to say it’s one of the best on The Strip (hey to Superfrico, Swingers and Happy Camper), but it even gives our favorite downtown places (Pizza Rock, Evel Pie, Pop Up) a run for their money.

The chef says there are four cheeses on the cheese slice (other slices have just old-school mozzarella): Monterey jack, Tillamook cheddar, provolone and 50/50 East Coast blend (shorthand for a half-and-half cheese mix, most commonly 50% whole-milk mozzarella and 50% part-skim mozzarella).

The crust is the star of the show, however.

The Hot Honey Meat Lovers Pizza is loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, meatballs and bacon, then gets a hot honey finish.

There’s also a Burrata & Prosciutto di Parma Pizza with tomato, baby arugula and olive oil. You know Arugula. It’s lettuce, but with a publicist.

Amici’s decor includes several pizza peels. Also known as kink gear. It’s Vegas. Keep up.

Amici also serves garlic knots, Caesar salad, cannoli, New York cheesecake and a Snickerdoodle cookie.

The beverage lineup includes beer, wine and an Amalfi Lemon Sgroppino, whatever that might actually be.

Mulberry Street opened at Resorts World on Sept. 28, 2021, about three months after the resort debuted. It was the brand’s first location outside California. Mulberry said it served more than a million customers during its Resorts World run and has hinted it could return to Las Vegas elsewhere.

The good news for nightclub-goers is Amici stays open until 4:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Thursday. It’s closed Tuesday and Wednesday, which is mildly annoying, but metrics don’t lie. (Metrics are why Golden Gate killed off its live table games, too.)

While it may evoke eye-rolling for some longtime Vegas visitors, Chef McCormick says they’ve tried to keep the price point reasonable. It’s all relative. All the slices are under $10, with the price of a full cheese pizza coming in at $38. Most of the full-size pizzas are $45-50.

Don’t laugh. Pizza slices at Buddy V’s Pizzeria at Caesars Palace cost $12.99 each, whole pies cost $60.99.

Obsessing over every penny diminishes both your enjoyment of Las Vegas and your life. We’re sharing the menu anyway.

If you can’t decide on a pizza, they’ll “build” you one called “The Sampler.” Guests pick a different flavor for each slice. That one costs $65.

Whatever. That’s how much things cost now.

Like the Resorts World food court, Amici is cash only.

According to our extensive research, and by that we mean asking ChatGPT to do all the legwork, the median price for a slice of cheese pizza on the Las Vegas Strip is now $8.50.

Secret Pizza is $8, Pizzaoki at $8.50, PizzaCake is $9.20, Sbarro at Horseshoe is $9.87, Luchini is $9, Nunzio’s is $8, Pin-Up is $6, Scarr’s is $8.50.

Yes, there are slices cheaper than those at Amici, but they also tend to be mid. Looking at you, Secret Pizza. Many are actively terrible. Looking at you, Pizzaoki.
