  • David Copperfield’s 25-year residency at the MGM Grand will end on April 30, 2026
  • Copperfield is teasing an unidentified but “spectacular” new project as his next act
  • The announcement comes after the Jan 30, 2026 release of Epstein files containing references to Copperfield

After performing at the MGM Grand for more than 25 years, David Copperfield is closing the curtain on his magic residency. His final performance will be on April 30, 2026. In official statements released Thursday night by both MGM Resorts and Copperfield, it was stressed that the magician is the one choosing to sever the lucrative relationship.

“We thank David and his exceptional team for the incredible energy they’ve consistently delivered with this larger-than-life production,” said Mike Neubecker, President & COO of MGM Grand, in MGM Resorts press release. “David has fascinated audiences at MGM Grand for more than 25 years, and we wish him every success as he embarks on the next chapter of his journey.”

While the nature of that next chapter remains a mystery, Copperfield took to X to double down on the message that the departure was his choice — even though the move was sudden enough to trigger automatic refunds for tickets purchased past the April 30 cutoff.

“I’m excited to announce what’s next soon thereafter,” Copperfield’s statement read. “It’s the largest project I’ve ever tackled, and the most challenging, too.” He later added that he plans for the new project to be “something spectacular.”

It is important to note that it was not given as any reason for the severing of the relationship with MGM Resorts. The Las Vegas based casnio has faced significant scrutiny over their relationship with the entertainer.

The timing of the separation has drawn public attention — coming just five weeks after the Department of Justice released a massive cache of internal files related to Jeffrey Epstein on January 30, 2026.

Among those documents was a 2007 FBI memo alleging a “very close relationship” between Copperfield and the notorious child molester — an allegation Copperfield’s legal team has consistently and vigorously denied.

Copperfield has not been charged with any crime and denies any wrongdoing with regard to Epstein. His lawyers have repeatedly stated that the two were “at most, acquaintances.”

MGM Resorts did not immediately respond to Casino.org‘s request for a clarifying comment on Thursday evening.
