Plaza Scores Viral Jackpot With Funniest Vegas Video of 2025
A hilariously mesmerizing video featuring two drunks battling an escalator at Plaza casino has been dubbed the “Funniest Las Vegas Video of 2025.” We should know, we dubbed it that.
We’re told the video has been viewed more than 18 million times on Instagram to-date.
We’ve got the exclusive backstory about this glorious sliver of jaw-dropping Las Vegas shitfacery, which should definitely be a word, especially given the fact it could be used to describe misadventures across Las Vegas pretty much every hour of every day forever.

So, back in August 2025, a couple of folks had an incident involving an escalator at downtown’s Plaza casino.
The escalator goes up from the casino floor to Oscar’s Steakhouse. (The restaurant was closed on the day of the incident, by the way.)
While the escalator goes up, riders on the escalator sometimes don’t.
Enter our hapless, well, intoxicants.
These folks were wasted, blitzed, hammered, trashed, loaded, plastered, soused, pickled, buzzed, tipsy, inebriated, deep into their cups, three sheets to the wind, feeling no pain and long pour confident.
Then this happened.
The original video posted by Plaza didn’t include the Benny Hill theme, but it’s a simple fact anything set against the Benny Hill theme is funnier, so we added it. With Plaza’s permission, of course.
We have watched this video approximately 200 times.
Honestly, it’s better than anything A.I. could create, and A.I. is pretty good at creating absurd videos.
Shortly after the incident, which caused no serious injuries, Plaza was contacted by a lawyer. Shocker.
The lawyer said the couple was going to sue Plaza because their clients had been injured by a defective escalator.
At which point the surveillance team at Plaza found the above video and shared it with the lawyer.
Upon review, the lawyer for the couple nearly ruptured a major internal organ from laughing.
The problem clearly wasn’t related to the escalator.
At this point, the video could’ve disappeared, filed away in some digital warehouse like that crate at the end of “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
But, no. Plaza made a move. In one of the smartest casino marketing moves of this century, they offered the couple $1,000 to be able to share the video.
Given that they had zero legal grounds to sue Plaza, the couple agreed, and the rest is history.
Las Vegas casinos are a frequent backdrop for viral videos, usually involving fights of some sort, but it’s rare for a casino to be the one sharing the video.
Props to Plaza and its CEO, Jonathan Jossel, for the foresight to recognize a marketing opportunity when they saw one, and for putting their money where their mouths were to secure permission to show the video, now destined for Internet immortality.
Casinos and their lawyers tend to take things way too seriously.
They sometimes forget they’re in the business of fun.
This video is undeniably fun, an antidote to the endlessly mind-numbing drivel most casinos shart out in their social media streams. How the most exciting places on Earth consistently churn out such a joyless sludge of uninspired dreck is a mystery. Don’t get us started.
Terrible casino social marketing isn’t harmless—it trains people to ignore your brand. https://t.co/gzgzb3SnEK

Many lessons were learned through the catharsis of that couple’s aborted escalator ride at Plaza.
One, when you’re drunk, maybe use the elevator.
Two, remember, everything is on video in Las Vegas. Except in restrooms, which is where all the really freaky stuff happens.
Three, sometimes it might seem like you’re helping, but you’re not.
Four, only one blog gets the inside scoop you yearn for.
Five, we’re always going to make it about us. You’ll survive.
