Cosmopolitan Opens Renovated High-Limit Slot Room
Cosmopolitan has reopened its high-limit slot room after a five-month renovation.
The enlarged slot room boosts capacity from 65 to 110 machines, a 69% increase, if you catch our drift.
Beyond the interior design tweaks (wait for it), the renovated space now boasts the casino industry’s first two $5 million linked progressives: Two Dragon Link machines share one $5 million jackpot, Phoenix Link and Lightning 10 Year Storm share a second $5 million jackpot.

Cosmo’s high-limit room closed Feb. 23, 2026 and reopened July 9, 2026.
While the renovation was happening, high-limit machines were available in the high-limit table games room and The Talon Club, a fancy high-limit lounge you should visit just to see how the other half lives.

The aforementioned interior design changes include what seems to be an attempt at a jungle theme of some sort? That question mark indicates we aren’t sure that’s what they were going for, and if that was the goal, we aren’t sure why they would do that.
There’s quite a bit of leopard print carpeting at the slot room’s entrances. One swath extends into the main casino, perhaps meant to serve a wayfinding purpose?

The new chairs have animals on the back. Other than the carpeting and chairs, that’s the extent of the theming. There’s no discernible cohesion or point, but new is new, presumably.

The question on everyone’s mind, of course, is whether Cosmo will offer cookies in the revamped slot space. The cookies were at one time a sweet perk for players, but following the purchase of Cosmopolitan by MGM Resorts, cookies weren’t available on a regular basis.
We’re told there will be snacks, eventually, but the cookies won’t be back. Our money’s on trail mix.

You remember Quad, now Linq.
Enjoying episode 461 of the @360Vegas podcast, and the question arose about the cost of rebranding Quad (formerly the Imperial Palace) to Linq. The cost was $2.3 million, the Quad swirl can still be found inside Linq. One of the reasons for the rebrand? “Quad” is “four,”… pic.twitter.com/6m1BMuzkli

Apparently, the free cookies attracted “a certain element,” which we take to mean freeloaders who were eating cookies but not playing. You know, like those asshats who put $5 into a machine at a video poker bar and pretend to play just to get a free drink.
This is why we can’t have nice things. Or cookies. Asshats.

Cosmo’s new slot room doesn’t feel as elevated as many of the rooms that have debuted recently, including at locals casinos.
The room feels cramped, with as many machines as possible jammed into the room. We were told the room is 40% bigger, but machines have increased nearly 70%. That math isn’t mathing. Every square inch is monetized, but we would love to see a little more breathing room.

The high-limit room is in the space place, next to Clique Bar & Lounge.
We’ve always enjoyed our brief visits to the high-limit room at Cosmopolitan. Yes, they’ve been brief. We are not made of money.
We don’t really get the hoopla about the $5 million linked progressives. When we hit one, our tune is likely to change, however.

The debate continues to rage about whether Cosmopolitan’s magic has waned under MGM Resorts ownership.
We trust MGM Resorts is in a holding pattern when it comes to big capital investments as the company considers a takeover offer from Barry Diller.

The high-limit room’s renovation seems a little half-hearted, especially when compared to other high-limit salons in town. We are so spoiled. Not the first-person plural “we,” the collective “we.” All of us. We’re all spoiled. Mostly you, but also to a small degree, us.
Ultimately, if the machines pay, it doesn’t matter what the surroundings are. We got a hand pay at a Dotty’s one time, and it was more glorious than fresh cookies. Which Cosmo needs to bring back or we aren’t going. All due respect.
