The pic is of a northern grey whale that winters in Mexico that I had the pleasure to meet. They first "spy hop" to check you out. If they like you, they approach the boat for a scratch hoping that you will scrape the barnacles from their faces. Once I learned how to do it, I was a barnacle removal expert. Best week of my life!! They leave next week to migrate to the Gulf of Alaska for the summer. But I will be waiting in Mexico for them next winter!!
