For players who want to get serious about blackjack, playing free online blackjack games makes sense. You can develop your strategies and see what works and what doesn’t, all without putting any of your money on the table to do it.

Unlike some other card games, the differences between online video blackjack and face-to-face blackjack are non-existent. Blackjack in any form is as simple as can be, and completely based on the turn of the card.

Blackjack Rules

There are only two rules in blackjack—get a bigger hand than the dealer/machine, and don’t go over 21. The 21 limit is what gives blackjack its common nick-name “21.” That’s it. You can’t get much simpler than that.

That doesn’t mean there’s no strategy involved. In fact, blackjack is all about strategy. You have to make split-second decisions on whether to stay put, ask for more cards, or back off. Players often use free online blackjack games to test out new strategies of when to move or stand before going to a paid blackjack game where they can win big money with their carefully developed tactics.

Blackjack Terms You Need to Know

Before you log into one of the casino sites on this page and start playing Blackjack, there are a few terms you need to understand to make the game more enjoyable and understandable:

Stand: When you get a set of cards that you feel is strong enough to beat the machine, you “stand.” The machine will then keep going until they either beat you or go over 21.

Hit: In blackjack you are initially dealt two cards. You ask for a “hit” when you want to add a card to your hand. Remember the objective is to get as close to 21 in total face value as possible without going over.

Split: If when you are dealt your first two cards, they are of equal face value (for example, you get two kings), you may split your hand into two separate hands and place your bet on each hand. You then must continue to play both hands up to either “stand,” “stay” or “bust.”

Double: After the first two cards are dealt, if you think all you need is one more card you can double your bet if you think you have a strong hand. This is sometimes offered on split hands as well.

Basic Strategy for Free Online Blackjack Games

The basic strategy of any blackjack game is to “stand” if you are at 17 or better. That is a safe play. Of course, aggressive players may take the chance if they are just at 17. Another basic strategy move is to always split pairs of 8’s or better, and not bother splitting anything less than a pair of 8’s. Again, that depends greatly on how aggressive you are in your blackjack strategy.

Why don’t you start today, and test out your own strategies, or prove the above to be right by playing our online free blackjack games.
