We don’t usually find out about new restaurants by stumbling upon them, but that’s what happened with Sip Sip Wok at Virgin.<\/p>\n

An announcement about Sip Sip Wok was published<\/a> by Virgin on Oct. 2, 2026, but it flew under the radar. Inquiries to Virgin about the new concept have resulted in somewhat vague responses. Which screams drama, and we could not be more excited to dive headlong into the morass.<\/p>\n

And, no, we did not write this entire story as an excuse to use the word “morass,” probably.<\/p>\n

We absolutely love Sip Sip Wok’s moody maximalist interior. Related: Moody maximalist interior would make a decent band name.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

So, Sip Sip Wok is a great name for an Asian restaurant.<\/p>\n

How do we know it’s Asian? First, we are not a moron.<\/p>\n

Second, Virgin confirmed it’s an Asian restaurant.<\/p>\n

The official announcement said, “Sip Sip Wok will bring together Asian-inspired comfort food, modern flavors, craft cocktails, and Asian beers in a laid-back setting designed for dinner, drinks and late-night bites. Guests can expect an energetic atmosphere featuring industrial finishes, neon accents, glowing beer fridges, and Cantonese-inspired signage. The casual format will make Sip Sip Wok an easy stop whether you\u2019re grabbing a bite before a concert, meeting friends for drinks, or looking to keep the night going.”<\/p>\n

Drink, drink, eat is about the right proportion for a Las Vegas bar and restaurant.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Since there isn’t much information about the restaurant floating around,\u00a0we started poking around.<\/p>\n

You might say we poked around the morass, but we are mature and possess an ungodly amount of restraint.<\/p>\n

What we heard is Sip Sip Wok was originally slated to open Oct. 1, 2026. That date has obviously come and gone. Or, if you live in Australia, the date came and went.<\/p>\n

We love it and we aren’t even all the way in yet. You are correct in assuming that is what she said.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The chatter is that a third-party operator was involved with the venue, but recently bailed. The rumor is there was some concern about whether business at Virgin could sustain Sip Sip Wok. That scuttlebutt hasn’t been confirmed or denied by Virgin.<\/p>\n

That concern isn’t outrageous given this is the fourth Asian concept that’s occupied this same space since Virgin became Virgin.<\/p>\n

The space was home to Night + Market when the resort switched over from Hard Rock to Virgin in 2021. That was followed by Chow Fun, which was replaced by Chef Xue.<\/p>\n

When Hard Rock was still Hard Rock, the space hosted Fu Asian Kitchen.<\/p>\n

Sip Sip Wok looks amazing, and we hear the refresh of the outlet cost in the neighborhood of $1 million.<\/p>\n

First one to guess how many bottles and cans were used in this space wins. We’ll wait.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

To our layperson’s eyes, Sip Sip Wok is ready to go, so this isn’t a case of an opening being delayed due to a construction or permitting issue.<\/p>\n

It’s glorious draaama.<\/p>\n

We’ll keep digging into what’s up with Sip Sip Wok, but one thing we know is there’s a giant lucky cat outside holding a beer, so what’s not to love? Fun fact: The cat has a medallion with the Chinese character for good fortune, which could apply to both the gambling and the fate of the restaurant.<\/p>\n

Maneki-neko are “beckoning cats” (they aren’t waving goodbye) believed to attract good fortune. A raised left paw is said to draw customers, a right paw attracts money. They’re associated with Chinese restaurants, but maneki-neko originated in Japan, not China.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Sip Sip Wok was inspired by China’s modern beer bar culture.<\/p>\n

A visual overhaul has taken place since the previous restaurant closed, with lots of red neon, illuminated bottle displays, a central bar and patterned tile.<\/p>\n

There are also five bartop video poker machines, which the restaurant’s predecessors didn’t have as far as we can recall, which makes it infinitely more likely we will be a patron there.<\/p>\n

It’s like “Blade Runner,” but with more quads.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The issue of business levels continues to plague Virgin Las Vegas, but they continue to try and rectify that.<\/p>\n

They’re trying to bump up Sunday and Monday business, for example, by giving away free gifts to loyalty club members. This is a tried-and-true strategy for locals casinos, and Virgin is sort of a hybrid, with the goal of appealing to locals and tourists.<\/p>\n

Virgin’s location isn’t going to change, but if you dangle enough perks (they’re giving away more free play and dining credits, and offering 100% payback video poker), foot traffic needles could theoretically move.<\/p>\n

The overall health of Virgin obviously affects all its venues, including restaurants.<\/p>\n

Whatever’s happening internally with Sip Sip Wok, the space looks very appealing, so we hope Virgin will grab the concept by the xiao long bao and get this bad boy open.<\/p>\n

We’re sort of curious who owns the Sip Sip Wok brand, as that will determine if the venue keeps this name or gets yet another one. Signage ain’t cheap.<\/p>\n
