Because Jardin served only breakfast, brunch and lunch, we never got a chance to visit. Who gets up at those crazy times of day (7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.)? Because we didn’t dine there, we’ll have to fluff up our story by mansplaining how “Jardin” is pronounced.<\/p>\n
The “j” isn’t like the typical “j” in English, as in “jump.” It’s more like the first part of “zhuzh.” Like when you “zhuzh things up a little.” People think that word is Yiddish, but it’s not. It comes from Polari<\/a>, slang used in the British underground performing arts as well as the gay subculture. We’d have gotten that wrong on “Jeopardy.”<\/p>\n The “a” in Jardin is a short “a,” like in “father,” but it’s the soft version. In French, the “r” is made at the back of the throat.<\/p>\n The “din” is more of a “dahn,” but it’s easier if you listen to the pronunciation<\/a>, rather than reading it.<\/p>\n Jardin at Encore opened Dec. 18, 2015, in the former Botero space.<\/p>\n In April, Jardin closed for what at the time sounded like a renovation.
