{"id":16941,"date":"2017-03-08T00:01:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-08T08:01:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/?p=16941"},"modified":"2017-03-08T00:30:53","modified_gmt":"2017-03-08T08:30:53","slug":"all-net-arena-pushing-dirt-around","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/all-net-arena-pushing-dirt-around\/","title":{"rendered":"All Net Arena Takes Part in Las Vegas Ritual of Pointlessly Pushing Dirt Around"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For Las Vegas projects that can&#8217;t get financing, there&#8217;s a time-honored tradition: The technical term is\u00a0&#8220;Pushing Dirt Around.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alon did it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/alons-plug-finally-officially-sadly-mercifully-yanked\/\" target=\"_blank\">before its plug was pulled<\/a>, and now workers at the All Net Arena and Resort site, between SLS Las Vegas and the abandoned Fontainebleau resort\u2014the former location of the Wet &#8216;n Wild water park\u2014are doing some dirt pushing of their own.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16942\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16942\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16942 size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction1.jpg\" alt=\"All Net Arena construction\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction1-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction1-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16942\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Of all the projects not happening in Las Vegas, All Net Arena\u00a0is certainly one of those.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The folks behind the troubled All Net Arena and Resort project, led by ex-NBA player Jackie Robinson, are grading the site, which is a fancy way of saying, you guessed it, &#8220;moving dirt around.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Presumably, there are plans to build underground parking and install utilities as well. Why one would do these things, when there&#8217;s virtually no hope the project&#8217;s ever going to fly, we have no idea.\u00a0Las Vegas developers may not always have financial backing, but they rarely lack optimism.<\/p>\n<p>Along those lines, Robinson says the project should open in December 2019, or roughly around the time we all have flying cars.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16943\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16943\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16943 size-full\" style=\"border: 1px solid #000000;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction2.jpg\" alt=\"All Net Arena construction\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.casino.org\/vitalvegas\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/all_net_arena_construction2-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-16943\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Grading&#8221; is the process of ensuring a site&#8217;s subsoil is level to provide a solid base for an erection. Oh, just make up your own joke.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The All Net Arena and Resort will cost $1.3 billion, and is supposed to have a 22,000-seat arena, a retail and restaurant complex and a 500-room hotel.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s been lots of asshattery behind the scenes with the project, including lawsuits galore. id=\"caption-attachment-16944\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">It&#8217;s the construction site version of &#8220;Where&#8217;s Waldo?&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Despite the bleak outlook for All Net Arena, we&#8217;re rooting for its success, because we love new Las Vegas things, and the north end of The Strip can use all the help it can get.<\/p>\n<p>Somebody obviously scraped together the cash to do the grading of the site (trust us, nobody&#8217;s working on credit with this organization), so anything&#8217;s possible.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16945\" 2019.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whether All Net Arena gets off the ground or not, abandoned underground parking is far less an eyesore than a hulking\u00a0carcass like Fontainebleau or 250-foot
