During Pearl Jam’s recent two-night stint at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, singer Eddie Vedder staked a front-row audience member.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere\u2019s $500, just see if you can double it, I trust you,\u201d Vedder told the fan, who identified herself as Erin.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you lose it all, it was part of the experiment, and if you win any of it, we split it,\u201d Vedder said.<\/p>\n

To be honest, this part of the “experiment” seemed pre-planned. However, what happened next did not…<\/p>\n

Two nights later, during Pearl Jam\u2019s next and final concert at the same Vegas venue, Vedder asked Erin for the results.<\/p>\n

\u201cWas there any return on the investment?\u201d he asked. \u201cAny whatsoever?\u201d<\/p>\n

Erin handed him an envelope with writing on the outside of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure what\u2019s happening here,\u201d the confused rocker said as he began reading the message to 17,000 people.<\/p>\n

\u201cEd, I stayed up all night but in the end, the casino had the upper hand,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n

And yet the envelope was still stuffed with $1,500 cash.<\/p>\n

Appealing to Fans’ Vedder Nature<\/h2>\n

Explaining that she \u201calready won the lottery just through these experiences,\u201d Erin raised the money for Vedder\u2019s charity, the EB Research Partnership, by walking the concert\u2019s merch line earlier that evening, telling other fans what happened and asking them for donations.<\/p>\n

Within 20 minutes, she already doubled Vedder\u2019s stake and kept going.<\/p>\n

The EB Research Partnership was co-founded in 2010 by Vedder and his wife, Jill, after her childhood friend\u2019s son was born with a rare and sometimes-fatal skin disorder called Epidermolysis Bullosa.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoly fucking shit,\u201d Vedder said, visibly moved. \u201cWell that<\/em> I did not expect. We\u2019re so thankful, the whole EB community thanks you.\u201d<\/p>\n

After wiping away tears, Vedder handed the envelope to his wife Jill, who was also in the front row.<\/p>\n

Vedder then jokingly instructed her to “try and double it.”<\/p>\n
