Las Vegas apparently can\u2019t get its fill of Jos\u00e9 Andr\u00e9s,<\/strong> who plans to open his fifth and sixth restaurants on the Strip in the coming months.<\/p>\n

A third outpost of the celebrity chef\u2019s Mediterranean eatery, Zaytinya,<\/strong> is expected to debut first at the Forum Shops at Caesars.<\/strong> Andr\u00e9s also announced that he’s opening a restaurant at The Shops at Crystals in Aria Campus<\/strong> (formerly CityCenter), though no details about that restaurant were revealed.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9s, the Spanish chef often credited with bringing the small-plate tapas concept to America, debuted Zaytinya in Washington D.C. in 2002, followed by a second location last year in New York. Zaytinya (Turkish for olive oil) spotlights flavors from Turkey, Greece, and Lebanon.<\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9s already operates Jaleo, China Poblano,<\/strong> and \u00e9 by Andr\u00e9s<\/strong> at the Cosmopolitan,<\/strong> as well as Bazaar Meat<\/strong> at the Sahara.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No timeline was given for the new restaurants. But they are expected by late 2023 or early 2024.<\/p>\n

Tao Bows New Chow<\/h2>\n

Tao Group<\/strong> is doing what it does best, finding a Vegas home for clubby upscale Manhattan dining experiences featuring centerpieces of large sculptures. Its latest is Cath\u00e9drale,<\/strong> a French-Mediterranean coastal restaurant from the Lower East Side.<\/p>\n

Overseen by executive chef Jason Hall and Tao Group Hospitality\u2019s chief culinary officer, Ralph Scamardella,<\/strong> the menu includes an omelet filled with cr\u00e8me fra\u00eeche and caviar, a whole Dover sole with lemon caper butter, and a 22-ounce prime aged ribeye with rotisserie leeks.<\/p>\n

When it opens May 1 at Aria,<\/strong> guests will enter the 266-seat restaurant through a tunnel lit by flickering candles, then pass through a metal beaded chain canopy to find a monumental ceiling installation looming over the main dining room.<\/p>\n

Comings & Goings<\/h2>\n

Stripburger & Chicken<\/strong> has closed, ending 16 years of unparalleled Las Vegas Strip people-watching on the first floor of the Fashion Show<\/strong> Mall. There’s unconfirmed speculation that Emmitt\u2019s,<\/strong> a new steakhouse from NFL legend Emmitt Smith,<\/a> could replace it \u2026 China Mama<\/strong> at Spring Mountain Road and South Jones Boulevard in Chinatown is temporarily closed by a noninjury kitchen fire caused by cooking equipment that wasn’t turned off.<\/p>\n

The Venetian<\/strong> hired Ryan Labbe to operate and reinvent its Dorsey, Electra,<\/strong>\u00a0and Rosina<\/strong> cocktail lounges. The founder and CEO of Las Vegas\u2019 81\/82 Group, Labbe opened Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails<\/strong> in the Cosmopolitan \u2026 Retro by Voltaggio,<\/strong> the temporary first Las Vegas restaurant from \u201cTop Chef\u201d stars and brothers Michael<\/strong> and Bryan Voltaggio,<\/strong><\/a> will open May 3 and is now accepting reservations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
