Number of Las Vegas Visitors Testing COVID-19 Positive Rises

More people visiting Las Vegas are testing positive for the coronavirus, the latest alarming statistic regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in tourism-dependent Nevada.

The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) reports a substantial increase in the number of out-of-staters who are becoming infected with the virus, either while still in the Silver State, or upon returning home.
After 78 days of being closed on his orders, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) allowed casinos to reopen on June 4.
As of July 6, the DHHS reported that only 123 non-residents had tested positive for the coronavirus since the reopening of the state’s economic driver. However, as of July 25, that number swelled to 347 visitors — an increase of 182 percent or 224 positive infections.
California is most responsible for the non-resident positive results, with more than 100. Eighty-nine were from Arizona, and 20 from Texas.

Nevada’s COVID-19 confirmed case count stands at 56,972. The coronavirus has been blamed for 963 deaths. Clark County is home to the overwhelming majority of the disease. Cases in the most populated county total 49,151, with 811 deaths.
There doesn’t appear to be a downward trend in the number of daily new cases, nor deaths. Nevada reported its single highest one-day death count on July 29, with 19 deaths. Its highest number of one-day new cases came on July 15, with 1,447 new positive test results.
Casino.org’s recent article generated a passionate response from readers. Some opined that Las Vegas needs to shut down once again. Others insinuated we don’t have our facts straight.
“I don’t know where you got your information, but it’s 100 percent wrong,” reader Joe stated. “Have you even visited any casino? Most of us are at 75 percent capacity or higher. Try some research.”
“Joe” refused to provide his email, and therefore could not be reached for comment. But Nevada is restricting casinos to a maximum 50 percent occupancy. Other readers agreed with our reporting, that Las Vegas is indeed relatively barren compared with the pre-COVID environment.
Our Vegas experience was awful. Closed bars and restaurants, no shows, no room service, deserted streets, 30-minute waits for Ubers, abundance of homeless people, and hotel security guards constantly harassing you over how your face mask fits,” stated Reagen Wilkins.
“Close back down!!!” added Robin Glass. “Every day I see restaurants full, no one abiding by wearing masks. We will never get rid of COVID-19 until everyone takes this virus seriously!”
Visitation Low
Las Vegas welcomed just a little more than one million visitors in June, the most recently reported month. That’s down 70.5 percent from June 2019.
If more people begin to return to Southern Nevada, there’s, naturally, the concern that more people would result in a further uptick in non-resident positive testing.
“If Nevadans begin to relax their efforts and take this less seriously, this targeted approach will not work and will lead our state backward, which could ultimately lead once again to broad-based closures and limitations. I don’t want that, and neither do all of you,” Sisolak warned last week.

Okay, so lets check it out. Does anyone want to place a bet that Governor Steve SissyPants has a vested interest in placing testing on the high side? Has anyone checked out to see what companies that would be? He wouldn't be the only Democratic governor with an interest in 1 or more mechanisms driving the Pandemic! What are Sisolaks ties to the Armenian Mob? The secret trial going on with only a Judge, no jury? The "missing" rainy day funds? Collecting over 30 million dollars for the shooting victims and families through "Go-Fund-me" and only giving back less than half, around 14.8 million dollars? Where did the rest of the money go? When we ask these questions, we should also be asking "If a Governor can be so corrupt then why wouldn't his draconian actions be corrupt as well? The State receives about 98,000.00 dollars from the Feds for each Covid case, and now people are starting to question the numbers when in actuality this Governor was corrupt from the moment he stepped into office. So cool that the FBI is now investigating this Horse shit for an excuse Governor! Lets all be vigilant and keep tabs on the FBI and their progress in these "multiple" investigations that are happening with our wonderful Governor Mr. Steve Slicesomefat! I would like nothing more than to see this asshat take the cuffs and do the walk of shame!
I live in CT. The Mohegan Sun's July slot win exceeded July 2019, this is in spite of Covid19 Protocols.Their efforts for Sanitation are for the most part very effective in instilling a sense of safety as evidenced by the surge in Business. I might add that I am willing to bet that the going in gross & net % of Profit will be substantial. As referenced by other posters the Sun has eliminated as Vegas has: Most of its High Roller VIP lounges, No Concerts No Valet Parking and many other No Moneymaking Venues. Thus a lot more profit. They themo test everyone as best they can and there are an abundance to say the least Disinfectant wipe Dispensers. Yes security enforces wearing Masks. I only go there very early AM 6 ish and have limited my playing time by 90% due to wearing the mask which is very uncomfortable . Connecticut Leads this Nation in How to respond to the Pandemic, we got killed early on but our citizens have taken this Killer Virus Seriously and we turned the corner early and we consistently test less than 1% If others stopping Bitching about rights etc & got on Board the deaths in America would have been 1/2 or less than they are
Have we tried not being terrified of the natural world every second of the day?
We are expected to believe covid numbers that have been skewed from the beginning in an effort to destroy the economy and they almost have. Go about life and stop the nonsense. I've been to the North Carolina casinos a dozen times since reopening and the covid security is so tight its ridiculous. Even a cold virus can't penetrate the security. I'm sorry people have died but just as sorry when someone dies from the Flu or any other virus. Lets move on
With extreme pressure from the casino owners and their partners Gov. Sisolak opened the casinos. They opened with no thought to safety. Tourists were not required to wear masks. The workers were getting sick and took it into the communities. Vegas is a one horse town and makes no effort to gain other industries. Therefore it suffers in other ways. The education system is awful the medical care is subpar. now it is becoming a hot spot. I, as an elderly person fled NY to Vegas and then had to flee back to NY when Vegas became a hot spot. In addition the residents who were lured by cheap living are mentally adverse to any kind of preventitive behavior.I have seen pictures of restaurants with every patron not wearing masks indoors. THESE ARE RESTAURANTS IN THE SUBURBS. The supermarket crowd is not wearing masks. There is no contact tracing and many people do not agree to testing. Saying it is out of towners only with covid and spreading it is not quite accurate. However the casinos being open did not help. Vegas will stay a hot spot.
Will someone explain to me how we're going to "get rid of this virus" by wearing masks in when there are BILLIONS of people in Africa, South America, Asia, India, etc....who don't have masks, aren't wearing masks, and aren't going to wear masks! People really seem to think that the country, and the world for that matter, consists of the ten miles around their house.
Better to lockdown again if people doesn’t want to follow cdc guidelines.

As a local,I have avoided all casinos and all restaurants for the past 5 months. As a gambler and supporter of my locals casinos I have “ no intention “ of visiting my locals haunts for a very very long time, long after A working vaccine is production. This weekend I was in Primm to cash in Some scratch off lotto tickets. I stopped in the casino to use their facilities...and in utter shock how crowded it was.No social distancing and certainly no other seat removed from the slots. Lots of no masks... and I was in and out within minutes. If the CASINOS...all of them do not enforce the Governors rules....what’s the point.Don’t expect tourists to follow the rules....it’s up to the state to come down on properties HARD ! If they don’t.
The governor of Nevada needs to be held responsible for EACH DEATH as we are doing to our police that are doing their jobs. If we can fire and charge a cop who is doing his or her job why are we NOT arresting the governor who is failing to do his job and he is KILLING people over 900 people. enough time for charges on this hack. that number 900plus that he likes to throw around are husbands, wives, grandmothers grandfathers, kids, grand kids. they are NOT just a number that the governor likes to look at them as.
