Online Roulette Tips

Online Roulette TipsRoulette is a game of chance. We will never be sure which bets will win so there will never be a 100% winning technique. Some people will break even, a few will win, but at the end of the day, most roulette players will lose. All we can do is work to avoid the most common pitfalls and minimize the house edge. If nothing else, we can limit our losses and make sure we have a blast every time we sit down at the roulette table. Read on as we go through some of the top roulette tips.

On a normal roulette wheel, nearly every bet has a 5.26% house edge. This is a fairly normal house edge for casino games, though there are better options. Of course, you can reduce this by playing on a European (single zero) roulette wheel but even then, almost all bets are the same statistically. The only exception is the First Five bet which carries a 7.89% house edge on an American wheel. It is the only bet that is worse than the others, so there is really no reason to ever make a First Five roulette wager. The other bets are, statistically, identical, so you should feel free to play whichever one you personally prefer. The real key to roulette has less to do with which bets you make, and more to do with how big your bets are.

Manage Your Bankroll

Bankroll management is a very broad subject but it has one primary goal – to keep you in the game as long as possible. This gives you a chance to wait for a lucky hot streak and, even if that never comes, at least you will be able to stick around the table and have fun for a longer period of time. In general, online roulette players are likely to play over one hundred spins per hour; more with accelerated features. So for example, in a two hour session, it might be reasonable to assume that we will have a chance to bet 250 times.

We are likely to win a little less than half of those, and lose a little more than half of those, so to be conservative maybe we will bet 1/50 of what we are willing to lose in the session. Think about this before you decide which table limits you are comfortable with! If you lose the amount that you originally planned to wager, stop playing! If you go on a hot streak, consider pulling out your original money and playing only with your winnings – you cannot lose what you don’t put on the table.

There Is No Fool Proof System

If there was a way to beat the roulette wheel, casinos would not be able to stay in business, yet you have probably heard about a number of roulette systems. Unfortunately these are just myths based on the Gambler’s Fallacy. There is no such thing as a bet that is due to win and while winning/losing streaks exist, there is no way to know if you are in the middle of one, or if your string of winnings is about to come to an end. Stick to the fundamentals, watch your bankroll, and (most importantly) have fun at the roulette wheel!
